I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of

your letter No. 27422/1901

of 10th August, in which

you inform us that the annual increment of salary to be

paid to the Senior Sanitary Inspectors selected for service

in Hong Kong, is to be at the rate of $ 80.

In your previous letter, however,

No. 11551/1901

of 26th April, you informed us that the salary was

to be at the rate of $ 1800 rising to $ 2040 and as you

then specified no amount for the annual increment, we fixed

it, on the recommendation of our Consulting Engineer, at

$ 120, which amount was stated in our advertisement calling

for candidates. This arrangement seemed appropriate as increments of $ 120 permit of the maximum salary being paid
